Day 1 – Sunday, October 15: Roncesvalles to Zubiri – 24km, 8.5 or so hours
I just completed my first day of walking the Camino Frances. My feet did well and thank goodness for yoga!
I am walking with my friend Adrienne. She completed the Camino Frances 10 years ago this month and has also walked parts of it since then. Our time today includes walking between 24 to 26 km and stopping to take photos, conversations with other pilgrims, eating fresh and delish food and a momentary hitting the wall with 6 km to go. But we persisted and even got our energy back.
Today was about: Getting my bearings. Getting accustomed to my daypack. Figuring out daily transport for my gear pack.
It was an amazing day surrounded by stunning scenery and new experiences.
It’s 8:30 pm here in Zubiri, Spain. Between the 9 hour jetlag and today’s walk I’m pooped so off to bed.
Buenas noches!
