Day 17: Santiago de Compostela – Self care day ❤ Slept in until almost 8 am. Checked in with body. Extremely tender soles. Plantar fasciitis.
Provided feet with some gentle loving care. Contemplated and researched possibility of day trip to Ourense tomorrow for thermal baths.
Checked on status of laundry hanging about the room to dry. Organized clothing for the day.
Ate a banana and a selection of cheese left over from last night’s fantastic dinner with Nina and Christina.
Began a cleansing ritual; Ran a hot bath. Took a bath. Lovingly cleaned my feet. Shaved my legs. Emptied bath. Ran a shallow cold bath and soaked feet in it. Took a shower to rinse off and massaged face with red current exfoliating cleanser.
Headed out to get some zumo de naranja natural. There was some in hotel lobby. Awesome hotel btw!
Back to room for 90 minute massage at noon. That was lovely.
Refreshing lunch of salad and Spanish tortilla in a small plaza with flowers and a fountain.
Returned to a local “farmacia” shop to purchase Eucalyptus oil and another shop called “Chocolate” to buy, well chocolate. Of course!
Walked to the Cathedral plaza to see if any of my Camino friends had arrived and ran into two couples I had walked with on and off. Strolled down to the Pilgrim certificate office and saw a young girl , of seven years old, and her mom whom I met a few days ago. We high-fived and I congratulated them and told her how inspirational she was. I took a photo of her holding her certificate and she was very proud – and rightly so!
Researched what to do as a day trip on Wednesday.
Chilled in room.
Tapas dinner.
Sleep.
A simple and luxurious day well deserved and needed and appreciated!
Shanti Shanti Shanti
