The Camino after the Camino

I am homeward bound and now begins the re-integration into society outside of the Camino. I am blessed to be returning to a place of simplicity and quietude, surrounded by nature and a wonderful community of like-minded folk, allowing for a gentle return.

I am mindful that a journey such as this does not end when the walking is done, but in fact that the journey brought awareness to that which lives and grows within me…and just like yoga practice, it is my hope and belief that many shall benefit from what the Camino gifted.

In conversation with other pilgrims I asked what gift(s) they had been offered and received by the Camino, and also how they will take these gifts, learning, lessons and bring them into life at home.

Each person’s experience is unique and it was a great pleasure to discuss and listen to my fellow pilgrims’ responses.

Personally, I came with no expectations and I was open to the Camino revealing what was needed. I return home with an open heart, deep gratitude for my life, for family and friends and for where I live. Additionally I spent much of  the time being in the present. Reminded over and over again to return to the moment, a times brought back by a breathtaking view or a magnificent tree, a cool breeze and even the smell of shit.

I also began to share and write again, and remembered how much I enjoy it.

A big thanks to Adrienne for accompanying and guiding me. To Joël for his ongoing love and support, and to me for gifting this to myself.

And to you for walking with me.

I add that the experience cultivated the desire to walk the Way again someday. Perhaps you’ll join me.

May you walk in peace,

Xo
